Caring 4 Communities

As recommended by the FAFP Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Task Force, the FAFP recently launched a new program called "Caring 4 Communities" (C4C) which involves the Academy conducting service projects in underserved communities.  The inaugural service project was held at the America's Youth Inc. (located in Fernandina Beach but serving the greater Nassau County area) on Saturday December 10, during the FAFP 2022 Winter Summit in Amelia Island.  With over 20 children listening in, FAFP member Dr. Tra'Chella Johnson Foy shared her journey during lunch of becoming a family physician despite growing up disadvantaged in an underserved Jacksonville community.  Afterwhich, FAFP leaders and staff played games with the kids and assisted with much needed landscaping and painting improvement projects on the America's Youth campus.

At this time the FAFP will focus on similar, future events during its CME weekends in 2023 and beyond.  Any FAFP members interested in serving as a local champion to help coordinate the FAFP's support of a local community service project should contact FAFP Membership and Workforce Development Director Ashleigh Huff at ahuff@fafp.org.  Special thanks to FAFP Vice President Dr. Chris Scuderi and local champion for organizing the inaugural event in his home community, Dr. Johnson Foy for presenting, and all other FAFP volunteers who helped support this special day!
