2024 Awards

 

 

Each year, the Florida Academy of Family Physicians (FAFP) honors outstanding individuals, in the Florida family medicine community, who exemplify the mission, vision, and values of the Academy. The FAFP would like to solicit nominations for the following 2023 awards.  All awards will be presented at the FAFP Family Medicine Winter Summit in December.  To view past FAFP award recipients, please click here.

 

The deadline to submit a 2024 award nomination is August 12, 2024. Winners will be contacted in the Fall, with a formal announcement to the FAFP membership upon the conclusion of the FAFP Winter Summit held December 8-10, 2023, at the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island. Family Physician of the Year

In recognition of outstanding performance as a Family Physician in dedication to the profession and service to the patient. Nominees for Family Physician of the Year should:

 

  • Embody the finest characteristics of family medicine;

  • Provides his/her patients with compassionate, comprehensive and caring family medicine on a continuing basis;

  • Provides a credible role model professionally and personally to his/her community, to other health professionals, and residents and medical students;

  • Be directly and effectively involved in public service and/or activities that enhance the quality of life in communities;

  • Can effectively represent the specialty of Family Medicine and the FAFP in public speaking;

  • Have at least five years of practice experience; and

  • Be a member in good standing within the community and of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and the Florida Academy of Family Physicians (FAFP).

FAFP Family Physician Executive Award

This award was created to recognize an outstanding family physician for his or her role as a physician executive. This award is reserved for Florida Academy members whose executive skills in health care organizations have contributed to excellence in the provision of high quality health care, and demonstrated that family physicians can have an impact on improving the overall health of the nation. This award is to recognize exceptional leadership by a full-time family physician executive and will not necessarily be presented each year. Art of Medicine

In recognition of belief proven by personal example, that the patient receives the full benefit of total care only when the science of medicine is practiced as an art. All supporting documentation, as noted below, must be sent and received at FAFP no later than August 12, 2024. For more information, CLICK HERE.

 

Exemplary Full-Time Educator

In recognition of dedication, expertise and ability to provide the highest quality instruction to physicians in all phases of their medical training and practice in a full-time capacity. All supporting documentation, as noted below, must be sent and received at FAFP no later than August 12, 2024. For more information, CLICK HERE.

Exemplary Part-Time/Volunteer Educator

In recognition of dedication, expertise and ability to provide the highest quality instruction to physicians in all phases of their medical training and practice in a part-time/volunteer capacity. Young Leader Award

​In recognition of outstanding service to the Florida Academy of Family Physicians and the specialty of Family Medicine by a young physician. All supporting documentation, as noted below, must be sent and received at FAFP no later than August 12, 2024. For more information, CLICK HERE.

 

 

Exceptional Resident Scholar Award (*Awarded by FAFP Foundation)

Since 2006, the FAFP Foundation has presented annual scholarships to outstanding third-year family medicine residents in Florida.* The program is merit based, and scholars are chosen by an FAFP Foundation selection committee. The winner(s) will be awarded $1,000 each at the 2024 Family Medicine Winter Summit, December 5-7, 2024, at The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island. The FAFP provides one complimentary hotel night and awards are presented at the Inauguration and Recognition Celebration on Saturday. Excellence in Advocacy Award

The FAFP Excellence in Advocacy Award will honor and officially recognize an individual, or individuals, for outstanding work in political advocacy at the local, state, or national level which advances the FAFP’s mission to Support Florida’s Family Physicians. For more information, CLICK HERE.
