FAFP COVID-19 BLOG

Covid Blog Logo.png

During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important that we share success stories that can be communicated to the FAFP membership. By highlighting our success stories during the most challenging times will support fellow family physicians in Florida and strengthen our members' resolve. Please share below how you are approaching, triaging, testing and treating COVID-19 cases in your practice. We ask that you share any unique techniques or experiences that will help your peers connect on best practices through the COVID-19 crisis as we prepare for the upcoming Winter season.

"At UF Health Jacksonville we are continually looking at how best to be there for our patients during this pandemic.  Early on in the pandemic two of our Medical Directors,  Dr. Charles Haddad and Dr. Jeff Jacqmein volunteered to be Respiratory Evaluation Clinics for the other 28 clinics to refer their patients to.  They were trained on how to properly use PPE, triage and test patients for COVID-19.   As this model was successful and PPE has become more available we have expanded this to 7 other clinics.   We are now working with the hospital to develop a protocol for hospitalization follow-up of patients with COVID-19 for the family medicine clinics.   We continue to utilize telemedicine and the patient portal to engage our patients when they are sick.   We are also working with our lab to bring a one swab test for Influenza A/B, RSV and SARS CoV-2 to the clinics as we prepare for this upcoming winter."
