Why is 2020 Spring Forum canceled?

The FAFP has been closely monitoring updates and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as state and local governments. We have also been actively following travel advisories and restrictions being placed on health care providers and hospitals and institutions in the U.S. and the State of Florida. The health, safety and well-being of our members, staff, exhibitors, faculty, patients and other stakeholders is of paramount importance. With an ever-increasing number of FAFP members on the front lines of preparing and reacting to the COVID-19 outbreak worldwide, it is in the best interest of everyone to cancel the meeting and ensure our members are able to do what they do best – help and heal.

Are all the ancillary events associated with the 2020 Spring Forum canceled as well?

All ancillary events, including FAFP Board meeting and all other committee meetings are canceled. Look for further details in the coming days regarding alternative options for holding these meetings (e.g., conference calls, etc.)

Will the 2020 Spring Forum be postponed until a later date or rescheduled?

The 2020 Spring Forum has been planned in advance with numerous speakers and careful coordination and contract negotiation with the hotel and other vendors. A such, rescheduling is not an option; however, the CPD Committee will consider options to directly deliver the essential content of the 2020 Spring Forum to our members in another FAFP CME weekend(s).

While we might not be able to meet live and in person, we are committed to recognizing our poster presenters and reinforcing this scholarly activity that has been part of the Spring program. Look for more details soon on our plans for providing recognition for posters so they count toward required scholarly activities. 

Will registration payment be refunded?

Yes. The FAFP will refund 100% of your registration payment within two weeks to your original method of payment.


Can I apply my 2020 Spring Forum registration payment to the 2020 Summer or Winter meeting(s)?

No. Each FAFP CME meeting is structured differently (i.e., one meeting may have more ticketed events), allowing attendees to register for optional events such as workshops and other ticketed functions. As such, request for FAFP to keep your 2020 Spring Forum registration payment and apply it to another meeting (e.g., 2020 Summer or Winter) is not an option.

Will FAFP cancel my hotel reservation?

FAFP will not be responsible for canceling your hotel reservation. If you have made hotel reservations with the Hilton Bonnet Creek, please contact the hotel directly to cancel your reservation no later than March 23, 2020, to make sure you do not get charged.


Will any sessions be made available virtually?

No. However, the CPD Committee will work on options that will allow dissemination of the 2020 Spring Forum content in future FAFP CME live meetings.

Will state mandated live courses be offered in future 2020 FAFP CME meetings?

Yes. The Summer and Winter meetings will include mandatory courses.  Don’t forget, the FAFP provides state mandated CME via webinars at no charge to members at all times.
