BOARD OF MEDICINE ANNOUNCES NEW INTERNET LOOKUP FEATURE
The Board of Medicine has instituted an enhancement to its licensure lookup system. To determine who is the supervising practitioner for a Physician's Assistant (PA), you can now go to www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa and click on Citizen/Consumer Assistance, then click on Licensee Lookup. For each PA, a new tab titled, "Supervising practitioners" has been added. The tab lists all the physicians who are supervising that PA. It is a good idea for all PAs and supervising physicians to visit the site to ensure the information is accurate. Updates should be sent to the Board of Medicine, 4052 Bald Cypress Way, BIN C03, Tallahassee, Florida 32399. FMA members can contact Francie Plendl at fplendl@medone.org with questions.

AHCA TO SEND RENEWAL NOTICES TO LABS
Thanks to a new law, the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) will now send notices of renewal to physicians who have clinical labs in their offices. Many FMA members expressed frustration with AHCA for canceling their licenses for failure to renew. AHCA had not sent renewal notices to the physicians prior to canceling their licenses. The FMA tried to change this Agency policy, but was unable to do so. However, HB 7141, passed during the 2006 Legislative Session, requires AHCA to send renewal notices. These and other changes regarding AHCA licenses are outlined in a letter being mailed to all AHCA licensees, and is available on the AHCA Web site.
