Reminder - 10 Minutes-A-Week
From Dennis Mayeaux, MD,
President
For the past several weeks, you've been
receiving the FAFP National Reform Update with the
latest information available regarding the national
health care reform debate and legislation. You can
review the updates on the FAFP
homepage.
For your voice to be heard, I would like to remind
you to contact your member of Congress and two US
Senators. If you are registered to vote, you can find
your Congressional District number printed on your voter
registration card. Congressional contact information and
a sample letter can also be found at the
AAFP-Speak Out
website.
If you can't speak directly to your members, ask
for the health legislative aide and let him or her know
why this is important to family medicine. Members
of Congress want to hear from real physicians who treat
real people.
It is anticipated that the House and Senate will
vote out their respective bills within the next 7-10
days, with conference committees meeting in late October
or early November. Now is the time
to take 10 Minutes-A-Week out of your
busy practice to engage on this issue. Please do not
miss this very important opportunity!
